Michael Garver makes awesome PDC Video.
Michael Garver took the awesome photos taken by Todd Brandel the day of the event and has turned them into an awesome video for us (PL owners a little more than traditional pointing breed owner) to enjoy. Here it is!

The POINTING LABS were victorious in the first (hopefully annual) Pointing Dog Challenge!
Thanks to everyone involved for helping make this event such a success and the strong atmosphere of good sportsmanship. We saw some great dog work and met some new people. Special thanks to Ryan Potter for putting in all the effort he did to make this work (and Lisa for helping), the judges Ken Loveday and Vance Butler for giving us one of their Saturdays and Scott and Jill Townsend for being gracious hosts and letting us have this wonderful event at their home. Thanks to Scott also for bird planting. We will be posting some wonderful pictures of the event taken by volunteer photographer Todd Brandel, so look for those. We will be posting low res web versions on the site, but if anyone has interest in larger format suitable for printing, we will let you know how to go about getting them... Todd will make those available, so thanks for that Todd!

Pointing Dog Challenge - August 27, 2011 8:00 am Sharp!
Crosswind Kennel, Maybee, MI. Rain or Shine.
Traditional pointing dog breeds vs. Pointing Labs. The pointing lab guys (and gals) stepped up big to put their "money" where their mouth is and accepted "The Challenge".
The concept is a team based competition where we will run 20 minute braces with one traditional pointing breed vs. a pointing lab. A simple scoring system will be used to accumulate points for your team with finds (steady to flush) and retrieves (within a three foot circle of the handler). At the end of the day, the team with the most points will get braggin' rights for the year.
While we are calling this a "competition" and a "challenge", it is really designed to be a fun event with like minded folks. The hope is that everyone will walk away with a better understanding of the "opposition". We will be shooting birds, so make sure you bring some hunters orange if you are going in the field. Safety is a primary concern and anyone being unsafe will be asked to leave, whether in the field or otherwise.
The roster is full (more back ups may be needed, so still contact Ryan if you are interested) and we have judges and bird planters all lined up. Lunch will be served for a small donation.
Come on out and be part of this one-of-a-kind event, even if you don't have a dog ready or didn't get in.
Please visit the image gallery. Send us a picture of your dog if you are entered (stand bys too!).
